ELEMENTS OF FAME: John Robert Powers 2011 Summer Showcase

[June 15, 2011] AIR. WATER. FIRE. EARTH. These are the four naturally occurring elements in the universe that have the inherent power to create and/or destroy. These primordial elements also make up the planet in which we live in, and the physical world that we know of. When harnessed and put under control, these elements help humans to survive and live lives that have the potential for fame, greatness and power.

ELEMENTS OF FAME is this year’s theme for JRP’s summer showcase that was held last Saturday, June 4th, from 6:00PM, at the Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium, RCBC Plaza, Ayala Avenue, Makati City.

For about a month of rigorous rehearsals under the creative supervision and instruction of artistic professionals, the participants go through routine practices that hone their talents and skills, at the same time are taught to discover their self-worth, and experience self-appreciation for improved self-confidence.

Since 2005, John Robert Powers, the leading provider of Personality Development programs in the Philippines, and now in many countries in Asia, has staged 13 showcases that featured the skills and talents of its students in stage and video acting, hosting, singing, dancing, fashion photo shoot and runway modeling. Over a thousand young men and women, boys and girls, with ages from 5 to 45, have joined this bi-annual event that serves as a culminating rite of passage after going through a life-transforming John Robert Powers program.

ELEMENTS OF FAME is the first of its kind of showcase that will feature the various talents and skills of JRP’s students woven in one magical, fantasy story. This year’s summer showcase involves the following Segment Directors and Assistant Segment Directors, respectively: Onyl Torres and Vince Revo Dungca for stage acting, Dingdong Eduque and Ingrid Nieto for singing, Lei Ponce and Rayn Ordiales for dancing, Ning Corteza and Raymund Recto for fashion photo shoot and runway modeling, Raymund Recto and Kevin Dugan for video acting, and Mars Nave and Issa Litton-Garrido for hosting. Joel Trinidad penned the script for the show, entitled “Elementals”, and Lei Ponce designed the stage while Sonny Camacho of ilightphotostudio supplied all the photo print and video production requirements of the event. Ria Pangilinan is both the Production Manager and Stage Manager, and is ably supported by Yvette Mañale, JRP Assistant Curriculum Director. Ricardo R Santos, JRP Curriculum Director, is the Producer while Marivic Padilla, JRP International Director, is the Executive Producer.

Real Fame Unleashed

How does one put out a variety show with a cast of over fifty talents from ages four to forty? More importantly, how do you manage rehearsals that run across school work, office deadlines, client meetings or family outings? A recipe for disaster, one may conclude, but not over at John Robert Powers. For more than two decades, the personality development school has harnessed talents from its pool of students and graduates into a bi-annual, fully-produced showcase that has even spawned careers for some of today's celebrities on film, small screen and even the fashion runway.

But more than keeping an eye on the limelight, John Robert Powers (JRP) mounts the showcase to provide the students with an avenue to further express their individuality and innate talents in fashion, music and performing arts with grace and bravura that can only come from true self confidence. Participating in a full production like the JRP showcase immerses students in month-long workshops and coaching sessions that lead up to the showcase performances on January 15, 6 p.m., at Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium, Podium 4, Yuchengco Tower II, RCBC Plaza, Ayala Ave. corner Se. Gil Puyat Ave., Makati City.

ETC Glam Central

Music Hall, Mall Of Asia - December 10, 2010 - ETC gave aspiring male and female models a chance to shine and be connected with the right industry players. It was a whole-day fair of sorts with sign-up booths of modeling agencies, runway coaching, beauty and modeling 101 with the experts. Aspiring models enjoyed the night's culminating go-see party with a fashion show and an awarding for glam central's top male and female models. The models won a modeling stint with a magazine partner, modeling contract with an agency, plus special prizes courtesy of ETC sponsors.

John Robert Powers joined this affair by placing a booth at the venue for the models to inquire about its programs and an Image Enhancement/Wardrobe session was facilitated by Mr. Lev Rodriguez, JRP Instructor, to teach the models what to wear for auditions.
